You wait weeks to see some new faces at the meetups, then 4 show up at once! It was a reasonably gentle start to the meetup. Dan and I were both there early to try to get some work done because the meetups are great for, well, meeting up, but less so for actually producing functional code!

Things were getting real at yesterday’s code pod meetup as Dan and Rahul discussed their approaches to recognising handwritten digits in a kaggle challenge they’re collaborating on - and that was just the beginning!

The object of today’s meetup - for Patrick and me, at least - was to do some pair programming and see what all the fuss is about. Neither of us had much experience of this, and I have to admit that I didn’t enjoy it much.

Maybe it’s appropriate that I should be the only person attending the meetup on Independence Day! Well, that’s not strictly true…

All code pod members are encouraged to contribute to the blog (should they have the inclination!). We don’t have a newsletter or other channel or ‘official’ way of broadcasting to new or existing members, and it would seem to be a reasonable way to capture the momentum of the group and the projects and activities of its members.

Lately I’ve been actively observing my processes when I’m working and trying to be analytical about them so I can make best use of my time and energy (physcial and emotional!).
